Emergency Dental Treatment

Some dental issues—like dislodged fillings, swollen gums, or broken dentures—may need urgent care but not immediate emergency treatment. For such cases, please contact us so we can schedule the earliest available appointment for you.

Emergency dental treatment is only required for serious conditions that need immediate attention, such as severe infections or trauma, which could be life-threatening or need to be treated promptly to improve recovery chances (e.g. knocked-out teeth).

What Qualifies as a Dental Emergency?

You should seek immediate dental care if you experience any of the following:

  • Severe dental infections spreading to the face, such as Ludwig’s Angina or Cavernous Sinus Thrombosis. These can cause visible facial swelling and may be life-threatening if untreated.
  • Fractured or locked jaw
  • Dental trauma from an accident or fall
  • Knocked-out tooth — follow these steps immediately:
    1. Hold the tooth by the crown (top), not the root.
    2. Rinse gently if dirty—do not scrub.
    3. Try to reinsert it into the socket if possible.
    4. If not, place it in milk and see a dentist right away.
  • Uncontrolled or heavy bleeding
  • Severe, persistent pain that doesn’t improve with painkillers

Conclusion

Dental problems can happen anytime. Determining whether it’s an emergency can be difficult, so don’t decide on your own. If you’re unsure, call us immediately. We’ll assess your condition, advise whether you need urgent care, or schedule a next-day emergency appointment if appropriate.
