Dental Surgery

There are 2 main types of dental surgery that Ivory Dental provides:

Dental Implant Surgery
Wisdom Tooth Surgery

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small titanium screws that replace missing tooth roots, providing a stable base for crowns, bridges, or dentures. They function and feel like natural teeth and help preserve jawbone strength.

Implant Structure

  • Fixture: Titanium or ceramic screw placed in the jawbone.
  • Abutment: Connector attaching the fixture to the crown.
  • Prosthesis: The visible part—crown, bridge, or denture.

Procedure Overview

  1. Assessment: X-rays and exams determine suitability.
  2. Bone Grafting (if needed): Strengthens weak jawbone.
  3. Implant Placement: The fixture is inserted into the bone.
  4. Healing (Osseointegration): Implant fuses with bone over several months.
  5. Crown Placement: Final restoration is attached.

Aftercare

Mild swelling, bruising, or soreness is normal. Eat soft foods and follow hygiene and follow-up instructions for optimal healing.

Benefits of Implants

  • Look, feel, and function like natural teeth
  • Don’t rely on nearby teeth for support
  • Prevent jawbone loss and facial sagging
  • Long-lasting with proper care

Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth are the last molars to erupt, typically between ages 17–25. They can cause issues if impacted or misaligned.

When to Remove
Extraction may be needed if you experience:

  • Pain or infection
  • Swelling or cyst formation
  • Damage to nearby teeth
  • Gum disease or decay

Procedure Steps

  1. Assessment: X-rays and scans to check tooth position.
  2. Anaesthesia: The area is numbed for comfort.
  3. Removal: Gum tissue may be opened, and the tooth sectioned if needed.
  4. Closure: Site is cleaned and stitched to promote healing.

Post-Surgery Care

  • Mild bleeding, swelling, and soreness are normal.
  • Eat soft foods, avoid straws and smoking.
  • Use cold packs to reduce swelling.
  • Rinse gently with warm salt water after 24 hours.
